Comments: Standard passive skill that boosts attack. Similar to Marksmans Boost.
Should it be maxed? Yes

Magic Missile
Maxed level: 20
Description: Uses MP to attack a far-away enemy twice

Comments: Magic claw, basically. Standard attack skill of the first job magician.
Should it be maxed? Add some points but it will be replaced by Thunderbolt somewhere in the 3x's.

Comments: Looks like power guard but for magic...?
Should it be maxed? Maybe. Leaning towards no.

Comments: Huzzah dragon pulse \o/ (literally)
Should it be maxed? Maybe. Bowmen need dragon pulse because they can't attack upclose. Magicians can so I don't know why we even have this skill. Leaning towards no.

Magic Booster

Description: Booster

Comments: More like Boostar
Should it be maxed? Yes.

Slow
Maxed level: 15
Description: For a duration of time, allow your attacks to reduce your enemy's speed for a duration.

Comments: It's a buff (I think), so you have to cast it to get the effect. From experience having maxed slow as an I/L archmage, slow was fun to play with but not really useful later on.
Should it be maxed?Leaning towards no. But if you have spare points, it's fun to play with.

7th Mastery Level 80; Available SP from 80 to 100: 60

Comments: Standard elemental amp but weaker and costs 180% MP.

Dragon Breath
Maxed level: 20
Description: Bring flames together into a massive attack. Time to raise the flame is proportional to the damage.

Comments: I don't know much about this skill. It looks like a mob attack that requires charging up. I personally never liked charge up attack. Some charge up attacks can be good like Assassinate but this is a mob attack with only 170 spell damage.
Should it be maxed? Maybe. Leaning towards no.

Killing Wing
Maxed level: 20
Description: Place a mark on your opponent. All future attacks are aimed at that opponent.

Comments: I have no idea how this skill works based on the description of it and found no videos of it. I think it's a 1v1 attack.
Should it be maxed? No idea.

Magic Resistance
Maxed level: 10
Description: Cast a buff on all party members to reduce the damage from magical attacks.

Comments: A party skill? For my magician class?
Should it be maxed? Personally, I would try to max it because magicians are like nerds. They don't have any party skills.

8th Mastery Level 100; Available SP from 100 to 120: 60

Description: When your MP is kept in a certain range, gain a small boost to your power.

Comments: Okay, this skill is trippy. It's like berserk in the sense that it'll increase your attacks if you keep your MP within a certain range but more bitchy. There is not only a maximum threshold, but it also has a minimum threshold, making it harder to maintain. At maxed, MP must be kept between 50% and 80%.
Should it be maxed? Sure. Not sure how well an Evan can use the skill though.

Earthquake
Maxed level: 20
Description: Smash your body into the earth to attack multiple enemies (fire elemental)

Comments: Looks like a"4th job" mob attack that hits front and back.
Should it be maxed? Well, the level 15x Evan in the video is using it so... sure, I guess.

Ghost Lettering
Maxed level: 20
Description: Curse a monster using ghostly letters. For a certain time after the monster is cursed, it takes more damage.

Comments: Based on description alone, it sounds like... a 1v1 version of poison mist? Need more info in this.
Should it be maxed? No idea.

Aurora Recovery

Description: All party members in the aura receive MP Recovery

Should it be maxed? I wouldn't.

i was really excited to see a new magic job, but... i just cant think positive things about this job. i see the poisitive in most niche classes but i just cant come up with any that justify making one.

it dosent really do or fix any of the issues mages have. they still suck for bossing minus one buff that would be useful at pink bean (but who pink beans?). the DPS is hardly better than a mage unless your hitting element weak enemies. the main element at low levels = ice. theres no good ice weak enemies at that level. theres not many ice weak enemies period, much less a good exp one. the best ice weak enemy will be oblivion after we get the adventurer updates. yet your ice skills with evan will be weak sauce at oblivion guardians.

at higher levels evan is fire based. how many good fire weak mobs do we have after 100+? (lawl). you have the ice path in time temple. yet skeles seem to be better exp because of how slow they cast mixed with how separated mobs are in time temple. a ice mage could mow mobs in time temple just as fast (in a fire weak map, remember) given their lightning and fire weak = thats fail. evan defies how most of the elemental balance is in maple. currently, its to your advantage to have a fire element pre 4th job. its better to have a ice skill post 4th job.

evan gets an ice skill at a level where the game favors fire mages and fire weak mobs. then it receives a strong fire skill post 4th job levels when the game favors ICE mages and ice weak mobs. /brain freeze on nexons part

single hit attack suck on the job, a bit better than mage but not enough to help you at bossing.

the ult is slow, useless to a degree thats unforgivable (cool down, same level hit, not multi level... wtf?). you dont get it until 160, along with most of the useful skills that make the job worthwhile. a mage shouldn't be slow and clunky in play, evan is.

i was hoping they would get a big launch as well, instead their just throwing it out there now. southperry has been the only forum to even bother with a evan board. it has like 5 threads? the most active ones pointing out how boring/useless the job is. sadly i have to kinda agree... evan seems to be the xbow job to the mage class.

im sure some people will play the class very well and it'll end up having a few stand out people who are specialized in playing evan. i cant see it being a popular job though, or even garnering the following the xbow class has. hell, if insoya is to be believed, many people gave up with the attack glasses because the job is to slow/boring to handle getting to 100. >____>

if you want a magic class in maple you really still are better off going bishop or ice mage...

on the upside, it looks like maple may be adding a dark elf/orc magic based class, so theres hope yet that nexon will release a magic caster that is actually strong AND useful (without relying on a boring one hit skill) @___@

overall, nexon is just pumping out jobs to ring up nx sales... and it shows in the finished product (broke, uninspired, boring, event tie in's to make people level one). sometimes it ends on a good note (aran), mostly though it ends bad (dual blade/evan/cygnus/pirate). given this track record, im not getting my hopes on the jobs to come. lol

nexon needs to get moving on a time temple expansion and high level content.

evans arent very strong when you factor in skill mobbing, DPM. they arent fast leveling.

score card:

POSITIVE:
strongest single hit damage skills for a magic job. can do very well if the player knows how to properly equip the mage given what he/she is training on or killing. dependent on choosing the right skill combo. character control will be very important.

you gain skills to the two most popular elements in the game. fire and ice.

useful party buffs:
Magic Shield -30% damage, 20 secs, 40 cooldown 2.16 sec 5th Mastery (lvl 50) great for bossing, esp pink bean
Magic Resistance -20% magic damage 1.92 sec 7th Mastery (lvl 80) good for bossing
Aurora Recovery 80% MP Recov nice for boss battles, can save pots. best use so far would be @ pink bean

better for bossing buff wise vs arch mages. could do more damage at a boss such as HT, though not as much as wep attacker.

ability to hit critical hits naturally. a good amount of magic attack addition skills.

ability to strip element from all skills for neutral magic (see: magic claw)

CONS:
slow/clunky casting. receive +3 booster (one level higher than mage) yet many skills will be slower.

weaker magic guard vs other mages

while single hit skills are stronger than mage (illusion being the best), you will need a very good MA set to truly see an advantage from this. overall, not even near an wep attacker. will have better dps on a boss vs a mage unless its elementally weak for the mage or for the evan. will be used for buffs at a boss run vs its damage.

horrible ult/useless slow/pointless revive skill

slow trainer/at a disadvantage until a very high level.

complicated vs other mages. many variables to take into consideration to get your strongest evan. depending on what attack combo you go (EG: blaze + gl or illusion + gl, etc), which weapon (maple wand/staff vs ele wand) and its effect on which combo you choose, to which weapon and combo works best on what training grounds. in some cases the ele wand wont always be your best choice.

a souped up battle/fire mage at heart. brings up a large reason why fire mages are unpopular = elemental list sucks compared to where people train now a days. very little action-defensive skills as it cant freeze/seal/block/slow. lvl 120 and under this does matter if you plan to boss/explore or train at higher level enemies. seems to make evan easy to die on until higher levels.

fire/poison



POSITIVE:
2nd strongest magic job. hits stride from 3rd job onward.

poison is very fast training (early on) if your able to learn how to effectively train with the skill.

strongest ultimate skill in the game.

strong mobbing ability, faster trainer than evan. strongest mob skill mage in the game.

NEGATIVE:

poison is largely useless early on and later on in the game. paralyze is fast/strong but single hit and low range. gain the ability to set an enemy to stone but one at a time. not many enemies are poison weak but overall the amount of poison enemies has been growing over new additions to maple.

out of all elementally weak enemies, fire weak is the most populous in the game. out of all the fire weak enemies though, usable/good exp/large mobs which are fire weak are far harder to find vs other elements.

2nd job is horrible.

ice/lightning



POSITIVE:
3rd strongest magic job in the game. hits stride from early on with a fairly strong single hit skill which can freeze, a mob skill early on that is fast casting (lightning bolt). best DPS skill mage after evan.

fastest magic attacker (speed). 2nd best kb mage after evan.

overall, 2nd fastest training mage after bishop. (ice mage + hs mule = <3)

best survivability due to ability to freeze while attacking. helps save pot funds early on/less damage when attacking. able to train in higher level places sooner due to freeze.

ult is weaker than fire mages but has ability to freeze.

overall, the best balanced mage of attack/defense/usability. 2nd best bossing mage after evan.

has an elementally friendly list of bosses/mobs to hunt which are ice/light weak. will have the best mob training map in maple once oblivion update makes them ice and lightning weak.

NEGATIVE:

weakest arch mage out of the attack mages. while speed/travel ability of skills such as CL can make up for some of the shortfall, if you want the largest visual numbers possible your better off with evan or fire.

not helpful to wep attackers at group bosses. used to spawn control.

critical can be acquires through items/buffs, not native.

MP junkie. 4th job can be repetitive though not as bad vs fire mages.

bishop



POSITIVE:
heal + best buffs in the game. (hs/revive and etc)

large amount of undead enemies. undead element typically gets the best/most popular maps. favored by nexon due to jobs popularity.

uses the least mp out of all the mages.

fastest training mage, though pre 4th job can depend on your access to partying/friends.

NEGATIVE:
hard to level at certain points in its life. not the best choice for solo/loaner players.

critical can be acquired through items/buffs, not native.

weakest mage in damage terms. not a fast attacker though in 4th job you acquire a storng/fast single hit target skill. overall not strong enough to make the class good at single hit killing.

not a boss/solo attacker. support + fastest trainer. probably the most repetive out of all magic classes.
